Avocado Toast

Ingredients: 

1 ripe avocado 2 slices whole grain bread (or gluten-free bread, if preferred) 1 small tomato, sliced Freshly ground black pepper, to taste Red pepper flakes, to taste (optional) Fresh herbs (such as cilantro, parsley, or basil) for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Avocado: Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a small bowl. Use a fork to mash the avocado until smooth, or leave it slightly chunky if desired. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.

2. Toast the Bread: Toast the slices of whole grain bread until golden brown and crispy. You can use a toaster or toast them in a skillet over medium heat with a drizzle of olive oil for added flavor.

3. Assemble the Avocado Toast: Spread a generous amount of mashed avocado evenly onto each slice of toasted bread.

4. Add Toppings: Arrange sliced tomatoes on top of the mashed avocado.

5. Season to Taste: Season the avocado toast with freshly ground black pepper and red pepper flakes for a hint of spice, if desired.

6. Garnish: Garnish the avocado toast with fresh herbs such as cilantro, parsley, or basil for added freshness and color.

7. Serve: Serve the avocado toast immediately while the bread is still warm and crispy. Enjoy as a nutritious breakfast, light lunch, or snack any time of day!
